*How is Blanche Sweet and her father's relationship the same or different from modern father/daughter relationships?
I think their relationship is not so different from modern father and daughter's relationship. I think it's a natural thing that father care about his daughter eagerly. Of course my father also care about me and give warnings so often. However, I know the reason why he acts like that. The reason was that because he loves me a lot! A long time ago, I hated to hear his warnings, but now I appreciate him saying things like that. I respect him and I love him. I want to marry a man like my father. I wonder did Blanche have the same thinking for her father. I think she did not respect him, but just feared him. I know her father loved her a lot, but it was too strict. My father regarded my opinion, so I can try many things. I think his too strict care caused her sad death.

My father is strict, too, but not too much. Now I know how my father love me, and I know why he says me something same as you. However I think if I were Blanche, I couldn't stand. I felt pity for Blanche.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion, Chisato. I think that as a parent, we want to protect our children and we think that we know the best way from our own experience. But, I think that in fact, we all need to learn from our own experiences and sometimes that means we need to make our own mistakes, too. Parents really can't protect their children from life, but if they love them and advise them just a little, I think life is good!
