The generation gap

I think there are different ways of thinking now between our parents and us. Some parents have modern ideas recently, but many parents still have traditional ideas. For my mother, she has really conservative views. She is quite strict with me. For example, she is unwilling to let me go on a date with a boyfriend, go out every weekend, come home late, and not study hard. When I was a junior high or high school student, it annoyed me very much, so I resisted her, and we often quarreled about the difference of the way of thinking. However, my parents didn't care about my personal appearence. Many parents don't allow their children to dye their hair, wear makeup, and pierce their ears. I thought it is an old-fashioned idea, but now, I noticed that parents just want to protect their children because they love their children. Feelings that parents think of the child don't change in any age. Though it is important for parents to be strict with children, to scold too much is not good because children might go a wrong way. I think it is also important to respect the values of the children.
