Sharing Differences, Learning Many!!!

I visited my host family with my roommate last weekend. We had already known her because we met her in the Host family Match Up. When we received the slip that told who our host was, we were a little bit surprised because there was only woman's name. I had stayed with 3 different family before. My image of host family was there were parents, children, and might be a pet. We could not guess what she was like from just one piece of paper. At the Match Up, we found that she is single and lives with her younger sister. We also found how nice and kind she was. Actually, we had a lot of fun!!! We went to a theater to watch the movie called "Marley and Me". We also visited her friends to have lunch together. She is a really good cook so we enjoyed all her dishes, too. Our host family is different from others, but we can learn many things that others might not learn. She is very interested in Japanese teenagers because she is much younger than other host families. She asks a lot and tries to share differences with us. I have learned that being interested in differences makes our life more interesting!!! We are invited for lunch tomorrow and we will see her brother and his wife. I will ask them a lot and try to get to know each other well!!! So excited!!:-)

  1. That's a good point that we often think of a host family in a very traditional sense, but you are lucky to have this experience, especially since you have already had the traditional host family experience. Most Americans have some time of living alone when they are young, so it's good that you can experience that kind of lifestyle, too. (I lived alone for many years before I got married and so did Christopher, Ellen, and most of your teachers.) Have a good time getting to know her!
