Precious memory in the US

Hello! I stayed with Reedy family last weekend. Parish and Tanya are our host parents, and their daughter is Jaquelyn who is just 2 years old. I was not so nervous because it was not my first time to stay with people from another country. My roommate was really nervous. They had 3 dogs, Ginger, Bailey and Mausey. They were so cute and smart. We went to the Doggy race, and there many dogs jumped into the water to catch a frisbee. It was super exciting! They didn't know anything about Japan, so we told them about Japanese food, fashion, education system, family, environment. I learned a lot about ethnicity from them. Both of them were from Germany and still keep German culture. I was surprised that Parish and Tanya kissed Jaquelyn often and never said "Don't do that", they said,"You were supposed to not no do that, thank you". I was a little bit surprised they were really respectful to their child. I enjoyed their American food, and also we made Tempura for them. I think we shared the cultures of different countries. I had a great time with them.

  1. That's good that you noticed differences in parenting styles. I think that Japanese parents are very kind and gentle with their children, but I was surprised that sometimes they hit them in the head!! We sometimes hit our kids on their bottoms, but not usually on their head! Stuff like that is really interesting I think.

  2. Your host family is so nice! My host family were from Germany, too, and they sometimes kissed each other. Sometimes I can't see them because I feel ashamed, but they looks so nice:)
